Keep your Mac companion quiet during work calls
A companion can be welcome while you work and distracting during a call. Momo has separate controls for reactions, movement and visibility, so you can choose what changes when the meeting starts.
Quiet Mode: keep the panel, suppress interruptions
Enable Quiet Mode when you want Momo available but do not want its reactions and notifications. It also suppresses focus completion and meeting notifications. Turn it on before your call if a running countdown may finish while you are talking.
Quiet Mode controls Momo, not every app on your Mac. It does not mute meeting audio, change microphone access or silence other apps’ notifications. Review those separately when preparing for a call.
Presentation mode: hide Momo from the screen
Use presentation mode when you want the companion itself to disappear. It hides Momo and pauses background tools. Restore the panel from the menu bar or the global shortcut after your presentation.
If you plan to share your entire screen, enable the mode before sharing and check your meeting app’s preview. Do not rely on Quiet Mode alone to hide the face or an open tool panel: visibility and notifications are separate controls.
Reduce motion: make everyday animation calmer
Reduce motion changes the amount of animation. It is useful when you enjoy the companion’s presence but prefer a calmer face while reading or writing.
This setting is not a replacement for Quiet Mode or presentation mode. Choose Quiet Mode for Momo’s reactions and notifications; choose presentation mode when the panel should be hidden. You can keep Reduce motion enabled outside meetings too.
A short before-and-after meeting routine
- Decide whether Momo can remain visible. Use Quiet Mode for a quiet panel, or presentation mode to hide it.
- Check the screen-sharing preview if you are presenting.
- After the call, restore Momo and review the tool or focus activity you were using.
- Turn Quiet Mode off when you want reactions and notifications again.
For full-screen work, Settings also includes Hide while the front app is full screen. That is a separate visibility preference, not automatic detection of every video call. These are controls you can choose deliberately for your workflow.

Does Quiet Mode hide Momo?
No. Use presentation mode when you want to hide Momo and pause background tools.
Will it silence other Mac apps?
No. Momo’s Quiet Mode suppresses Momo’s own reactions and notifications. Other apps have their own notification controls.
